Please note the first petition is in support of a private members bill introduced by the Honourable member Maurice Vellacott that has had first reading On June 6 2009, Bill number 466. This bill need continuous public support or it will go nowhere.
Petition commenced on the 1st of June 2010
Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament assembled, we, the undersigned residents of Canada, draw the attention of the House of Commons in Parliament assembled, to the following concern of children’s rights in divorce. It is the common experience of child that they want access to their father and mother. In a poll conducted by Nanos Research in 2009, 78% of Canadians support equal shared parenting to be the presumption in our Courts when marriages break up, because it is in the best interest of the Children. Aside from proven neglect and abuse there is no substitute for a child’s father or mother. Therefore your petitioners call upon the House of Commons in Parliament assembled to protect children’s rights with equal shared parenting legislation.
